Okay, we just did something really crazy. But first, please watch this video:
We just pledged $1,790 to Francesca Cavallo's Kickstarter Project. She's turning Dr. Li and the Crown-Wearing Virus into a full-fledged picture book and there's an option to order it in your own language so we ordered it in FILIPINO.
What's the catch? We had to order a minimum of 50 copies 😅
So now we are looking for 49 other bookworms willing to pay P2,250 for a FILIPINO edition of this 'origin story' of Covid-19. Expected arrival in the Philippines is November 2020. Your payment includes shipping via LBC to any point in the Philippines.
"The incredible success of the short story I distributed for free convinced me that there’s a big need for content that can help children make sense of what is happening, of the experience of isolation, of fear and anxiety but also of all the unbelievable ways in which humans are showing up for one another," says Francesca Cavallo. "This is a space for children to explore their feelings about what is going on, an opportunity to be inspired and to celebrate the importance of science, and of freedom."
Francesca has also confirmed that she will personally sign ALL our copies!
Please let us know if you would like to be one of 50 proud owners of a SIGNED Filipino Limited Edition by emailing us at email@example.com. We will collect payments by mid-June, expected delivery is November 2020. In true Kickstarter fashion, if the project does not reach it's target (but we're confident it will), we will refund your payments.
The free short story version is currently available in more than 30 languages, all translated by volunteer writers from around the world. For the Philippines, the story was translated by non-other than Eugene Evasco. He's already expressed interest in translating the full version should we push through.
Adriana and I absolutely love Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls and we are confident this new project of Francesca's will exceed our expectations. We hope you help us make this happen!
