Faustina celebrated her 12th birthday at the time the Philippines was occupied by the Japanese. At the start of the war, two angry men came for her father. Since then, she and her mother never saw him again.
Now the Japanese occupation of the country has ended. True enough, Faustina's father will never come back. The only momento her father left behind is the secret of a thousand paper cranes.
Find out in this story what Faustina feels about the paper cranes, and how she comes to accept the war and the loss of her father.
ADRIANA: This is a bit sad, but I really like it because the story is set in our hometown, Silay City.
