You may consider this book, Living Filipino with Mason and Gouin, as the very first book on Filipino as a second/foreign language based on the principles of British educator, Charlotte Mason and French linguist, Francois Gouin. The students of both Mason and Gouin acquired languages through a logical sequence of sentences called "series" that allowed them to narrate their habits and experiences in their target language.
Charlotte Mason says that languages should be acquired "not as grammar, but as a living speech." Gouin also shared the same principles as his teaching style for language is very much intertwined in daily ordinary activities.
The author of this book took reference of both Mason and Gouin and made their styles suitable for the Filipino language. Through the activities and principles in this book, students will learn how to think in the Filipino language and keep it as part of their day-to-day living.
