The datu and his subjects are panicking! Their beloved narra tree is dying, and they don't know what to do. The tree is the centerpiece of their village and is responsible for its beauty and fame. They don't want to lose it!
They will do everything to save the fame of the village. And then, they plan to create the perfect tre!
But they soon realize what perfection means and how it affects their land.
Do you think there's such a thing as a perfect tree?
ALEXINE: I like how this story touches both governance and environmentalism. Our leaders may not always make the best decisions, but it's important that they listen to their constituents and correct their errors. This story is an innovative way of teaching children the importance of trees. I would recommend this as a reading materials for adults as well, if only to remind them of the price of 'progress'.
ADRIANA: This story has very important lessons and the illustrations are really good. There are bonus pages with information about the narra tree (our national tree!) and tips on how to save the environment from the author and illustrator. I also really like this because it's in Hiligaynon, it makes my mom very happy and helps me master the language.
